The gates on the Hanyangdoseong (Seoul City Wall), the capital of the Joseon Dynasty, played an important role in the royal processions of kings.
Located in the eastern part of the Hanyangdoseong, Heunginjimun was mainly used for the royal processions to the Donggyo area, such as state funeral procession to the royal mausoleum or worship procession to the royal tombs of late kings.
This will be an opportunity to shed new light on Heunginjimun, a gate of the capital city, by looking at the state funeral procession of King Yeongjo and worship procession of King Gojong, kings in the later phase of the Joseon Dynasty.
