Namsomundongcheon Stream
Namsomundongcheon Stream is one of many tributaries that flows from Namsan Mountain into the Cheonggyecheon Stream.
As Hanyang became Gyeongseong and Gyeongseong became Seoul over the years, many tributaries have been covered and forgotten.
Namsomundongcheon Stream is one of the very few streams that has survived in its original course. Along its path are myriad histories and stories from different eras.
This exhibition presents how different sections of Namsomundongcheon Stream changed over the years, from the Joseon period (1392-1910) to Japanese colonial period (1910-1945), and then following Korea’s liberation.
We hope this exhibition will provide a better understanding of Namsomundongcheon Stream and its surrounding areas, in the context of previous special exhibitions on Cheonggyecheon’s tributaries.
